Okay, I'm back!!!! Finals are over and can you 3.75 GPA? Yea! Well, Game 3 of Western Conference Finals are tonight and Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals is Sunday. So, this is a basketball-filled weekend. With only 4 teams, I got thinking about I have learned about the playoffs this year. Here are 3 things I've learned so far:
1. EXPERIENCE MEANS NOTHING
The San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Boston Celtics franchises combined for a whopping 36 NBA Championships and have accounted for 10 of the last 12 NBA Championships. Impressive, isn't it?? But none of these teams are playing in their conference finals. These 3 are oldest teams currently in the league and have played numerous playoff games. All three teams have lost to a teams that is younger. Also, the Bulls and Thunder, who are two of oldest teams in term of cumulative age, are in their conference. Out of four teams that are in the playoffs, there is only one player and one coach outthere that has a NBA championship ring. So, HA, to experience being important.
2. BEING ATHLETIC MATTERS
I remember back in the day, well just watching ESPN Classic, where basketball players were so fundamentally sound. Well those days are the past. Now, basketball players are bigger, faster, and stronger than those of the late great 1980s, the days of Jordan, Magic, Isiah, and Bird. Al Davis still believe that you can't create speed but you can coach speed. So, now with players like Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, J.J. Barea, and LeBron James whose ratio of basketball IQ to speed greatly favors speed end of ratio are now what basketball players today and not of yesterday. The idea of players like Larry Bird and Bill Laimbeer are not completely long gone but they are far and few.
3. PARITY IS ACOMING!!!
I know we all remember the glory days of the NBA when Russell's Celtics, the Showtime Lakers, and Bird's Celtics would win all the NBA championships and what was what it. This year, the NBA Championships could be a first time recipient, a 2-time champ, the team that has has been to NBA Finals since 1998 which also the last time they won a title. And I believe, if there is no lockout, that will be no more dynasties. There won't be anymore 3peats or teams dominating a complete decade. So, you want to see a dynasty, you would have to get the seasons on DVD, look at the car, or watch ESPN Classic.
Well, that's all I got for now. Love, peace, and catfish grease to y'all. XOXO
