DRAFT GRADES!!!!

Okay, the draft has past and I am in such anticipation for the lock out to end. Can I get witness? Well, that doesn't mean I can't grade all 32 teams draft class. The owners can't stop me from doing that. HA!! All in y'all faces!! Well, enough with the silliness, here I go:

Going in the draft order

Carolina Panthers
GRADE:B
WHY: The Panthers were in desperate need of everything except running back. But, there were some questionable picks that had thicking ,"hmm". Like WR Kealoha Pilares, they could have grabbed WR Jeremy Kerley or even WR Terrance Tolliver who went undrafted. Also,to me Carolina should got DL Christian Ballard from Iowa who sometimes outplayed 1st round teammate Adrian Clayborn instead of DL Sione Fua.

Denver Broncos
GRADE:A-
WHY:Last year, the Broncos' defense look more like the Orange Crushed than the Orange Crush and new GM John Elway made all the right moves by using their draft picks on defense. They got the best linebacker in whole entire draft in Von Miller and safeties Rahim Moore and Quinton Carter will be in DB Masterclass with instructors Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins. They would have got an 'A+' if they would gotten defensive lineman since they going from 3-4 defense to a 4-3 defense.

Buffalo Bills
GRADE:B+
WHY: They got the best defensive limeman in Marcell Dareus and one of the best defensive backs in Aaron Williams. But, where is the quarterback and tight end? They could have easily got TE D.J. Williams and QB Scott Tolzien instead of Johnny White. I like Johnny White from UNC but the Bills really needed a tight end since they did not get a quarterback in this draft. They have good runningbacks in C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

Cincinnati Bengals
GRADE:B-
WHY: So, I guess in Cincy, Mike Brown may finally believe that Carson Palmer is retiring so they drafted a new quarterback/wide receiver combo in A.J. Green and Andy Dalton. In my mind, these were nice pickups. But they did not address that the face theat their starting middle linebacker is 35 yeard old and their strong safety is who???

Arizona Cardinals
GRADE:B
WHY: The Cardinals got, to me, the best player in the draft with CB Patrick Peterson, so off to a good start, right? They needed a quarterback and did not get one. I thought they would have gotten Ryan Mallett in the second round so Larry Fitzgerald can catch someone's passes but they went offense in a different direction with RB Ryan Williams who was one of my favorites. But the selections of Quan Sturvidant and Sam Acho were really solid with Clark Haggans getting extra long in the tooth. So, maybe they will address their quarterback needs in free agency when and if it happens.

Cleveland Browns
GRADE:B+
WHY:The Browns did some majorly good business in the draft this weekend. Getting 5 picks in the Julio Jones trade was quite major. Since they are converting back to a 4-3 defense from a 3-4, the pickups of DT Phil Taylor and DE Jabaal Sheard has really creating building blocks for a good loooking defense. WR Greg Little is a steal in the second round because if he was eligible for the 2010 college season, he probably would not have been available at the 59th pick. They still need to solidify their secondary but major kudos to Cleveland.

San Francisco 49ers
GRADE:B
WHY:They made a great selection with DE Aldon Smith and the most athletic quarterback in the draft whose name is not Cameron Newton but Colin Kaepernick. But they needed linebacker help. Quan Sturdivant and Greg Jones was still available for the taking. But, the lockout is really putting first year coach Jim Harbaugh at a disadvantage since there was no free agent signings. But, the Kendall Hunter selection is a major coup to add some depth behind Frank Gore.

Tennessee Titans
GRADE:B
WHY: Alright, let's start with the Jake Locker shocker. I couldn't believe it. This pick is almost as jaw dropping as when the Miami Dolphins selected Ted Ginn, Jr. in the 2007 draft. But, then again, this is the first time the Titans made a pick that had the rest of the league and analysts saying, "hmm". In 2008, The Titans selected RB Chris Johnson and we all know how that panned out and maybe they know something that we don't know. However, the rest of their draft was solid but we probably all will thinking about their first round pick and watching if picking Locker will be more than a shocker, but a franchise quarterback

Dallas Cowboys
GRADE:B-
WHY:Their draft started and ended so promising with picks addressing the offensive line and their linebacking corps. But in the middle is where it started to get kinda sketchy. They have 3 running backs already on the roster, why draft RB Demarco Murray when they should have tried to get DB Quinton Carter or DB Shiloh Keo. Both were available for them since other than Mike Jenkins, their secondary is looking real suspect. And not to add insult to injury, Terrence Newman can not turn back the clock and be 26 again.

Washington Redskins
GRADE:B-
WHY:The Redskins actually did something in the draft: They traded back to get more picks! Hooray! But those extra picks were not used to its maximum potential. I do like them getting those 3 Nebraska players: Roy Helu, Niles Paul, and Dejon Gomes. Also the pick on the big DT Jarvis Jenkins was okay. But, they should have gotten LB Akeem Ayers or DE Cameron Jordan in the first round. DE Ryan Kerrigan is not a natural pass rusher unlike those two. And the major question: where is the QB??? Greg McElroy was available practically all the draft since he didn't get picked until the seventh round. But, I guess old habits die hard and they will spend whenever free agency starts for a quarterback.

Houston Texans
GRADE:B
WHY:The Texans are going to a 3-4 defense from a 4-3 and their first picks really help accelerate the transition with DE J.J. Watt and DL Brooks Reed. The secondary got a jolt of improvement with DBs Brandon Harris and Rashad Carmichael plus super sleeper steal of a pick DB Shiloh Keo. They did not do anything super splashy but they seemed to address serious needs except their linebacking crops, so newly appointed defensive coordinator Wae Phillips has his work cut out for him.

Minnesota Vikings
GRADE:C+
WHY: We all know that Brett Favre is not walking back into the Metrodome to play (I think, maybe)and they needed a quarterback, But I never thought they would select QB Christian Ponder with the 12th overall. I thought Ponder wuld be a second rounder, but when you desperately need something caution isn't even a thought. They should went defensive linemen since Pat Williams is getting fatter but not younger and Ray Edwards may not be in Minnesota next season. Marvel Austin and Corey Liuget was available when they were on the clock in the first two rounds. Safeties was there for the taking since Tyrell Johnsn is not who they thought he would be and Madieu Williams is not the same players he used to be. well, if you're a Vikings fan, you need to start praying that Christian Ponder can be the second coming of Fran Tarkenton and win the big game.

Detroit Lions
GRADE:A-
WHY: The Lions may have gotten the steal of the first round with DT Nick Fairley and trading up to get RB Mikel Leshoure was quite nice. WR Titus Young can be able to get all the secndary to be honest instead of all the coverage is on Calvin Johnson. However, I wonder why no defensive backs since their sceondary was atrocious. I guess they figured if we have the best defensive line in the NFL, there is no need to have have excellent defensive backs since the D-linemen is going to be headhunters.

St. Louis Rams
GRADE:B
WHY: I really like what the Rams did in the draft. I don't love it, but I really really like it. Head coach Steve Spagnuolo gets his pass rushing defensive end in Robert Quinn and Sam Bradford gets new receivers in Greg Salas, Austin Pettis, and Lance Kendricks. But they failed to address to the elephants in the room known as Steven Jackson's backup and O.J. Atgowe's empty position.

Miami Dolphins
GRADE:B
WHY: A lot of people wondered why Miami did not draft a quarterback, but not me. I think they made the best moves for their teams. They got an the on the come up RB Daniel Thomas and the best interior linemen Mike Pouncey. But what would help the 'Fins is if WR Edmund Gates become the speedy big play receiver that Chad Henne needs so the whispers of getting rid of Henne and Sparano would cease. Well, maybe not cease but the owner won't be out of Miami looking at other coaches.

Jacksonville Jaguars
GRADE:B-
WHY: The only thing that I can think of about their draft is that they traded up to get QB Blaine Gabbert and they have a very servicable quarterback in David Garrard. If was up to me, I had them drafting DE Cameron Jordan and then getting a safety in the second round since their drafting blunders with Reggie Nelson and Derrick Harvey did not produce the outcme they desired.

Oakland Raiders
GRADE:B-
WHY: Al Davis continued his same philosphy in drafting the fastest players but made solid picks within the "Height, Weight, Speed" formula. OL Robert Gallery made not be a Raider in the upcoming season, so drafting OL Stefen Wisniewski is pretty nice if he is better than his uncle Steve.

San Diego Chargers
GRADE:B
WHY: A.J. Smith seems to be getting better and better each year in drafting players because DT Corey Liuget's game is so serious and fits a need on the defensive line. DB Marcus Gilchrist was nice to address that Quinton Jammer has not found the fountain of youth and they have a plethora of free agents. But, let's hope RB Ryan Mathews can stay healthy this year and WR Vincent Brown can rotate some coverage off of Antonio Gates.

New York Giants
GRADE:B+
WHY: I know that the Giants were beyond ecstatic when DB Prince Amukamara fell to them at 19 since the secndary was looking shaky at times. They got a first round talent in the secnd round with DT Marvel Austin and a nice receiver in Jerrel Jerrigan. They seemed to not only meet all their team needs but they also manage get players who can start and make a positive impact.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
GRADE:B+
WHY: The thing with the Tampa Bay's draft is their first two picks,D-Linemen Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers, be more than their medical issues, they might have the best draft. But other than that,I really like Mason Foster and Allen Bradford for their team since Barrett Rudd will not be coming back. The Bucs should also address the O-line since Jeremy Trueblood is a free agent and on the right side of 30.

Kansas City Chiefs
GRADE:B-
WHY: Scott Pioli has put together a draft class that if they produce, Kansas City can be scarier than they were last year. They didn't get Phil Taylor but they got one of the nastiest D-Linemen Allen Bailey in the third round. WR Jonathan Baldwin is one of the most physically gifted receivers in this draft but inconsistencies is why he wasn't in the top half of the first round. But the main point of the draft class is being consistent because if they are, San Diego cannot consider themselves a lock to continuously win the AFC West.

Indianapolis Colts
GRADE:B+
WHY:The Colts had 5 picks and did all the right things with them. The two O-Linemen, Anthny Castanzo and Ben Ijalana, can help keep Peyton cozy in the pocket and DT Drake Nevis gives them that Warren Sapp-esque motor and technique. If only they had one more pick so they could have gotten a return specialist or a safety since Bob Sanders has only played one full season since he has been in the NFL.

Philadelphia Eagles
GRADE:B
WHY: O-Linemen Danny Watkins and Julian Vandervelde were a great pick to ease some protection problems for Michael Vick. I mean, less be honest, Winston Justice was a waste of height and size. The DBs that they draffted were thumbs up in my book since Asante Samuel can be everywhere in the secondary. But the pick I really love is RB Stanley Havili because he gives them that big back who is able convert 3rd and shorts and is able to catch the ball out the backfield. But, I wish they would have taken advantage of all the good D-linemen in this draft because Trent Cole needs some partners in crime.

New Orleans Saints
GRADE:A-
WHY: The Saints hit major marks with DE Cameron Jordan and trading back into the first round for the best running back in Mark Ingram. They grabbed first round talent in the third round with LB Martez Wilson and monster in the middle DL Greg Romeus. If they got a safety, they would have gotten an 'A+.'

Seattle Seahawks
GRADE:C
WHY:I really like everything they did except their first round selection, James Carpenter. Charlie Whitehurst showed us one last thing last season: He is a permanent backup and not a starter. Ryan Mallett was sitting until the third round. But even if they didn't like Mallett, they still could have gotten Ricky Stanzi or Scott Tolzien in the later rounds while drafting James Carpenter in the first round. But I guess Pete Caroll is going to try and make a play for Carson Palmer since he is not going back to Cincinnati unless he is on the visiting team.

Baltimore Ravens
GRADE:A-
WHY:The more I look at their selections, the more I love it. They got the good DBs in Jimmy Smith and Chykie Brown, the speedy receivers in Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss, and O-linemen assistance with Jah Reid. The only thing that would their draft perfect is if they got a safety since Ed Reed is now on the wrong side of 30.

Atlanta Falcons
GRADE:B-
WHY: All I really could remeber from their draft class this year is that they traded up from 27 to 6 to get WR Julio Jones and they got LB Akeem Dent. To me, I think they gave up so much to get Julio. So, I guess they believe Julio was the missing piece to the Super Bowl puzzle, but I think differently. Maybe they should have gotten defensive backs since the last time we seeen the Falcons played, they got torched bby Green bay for 48 points. They really needed another pass rushing defensive end and tight end. John Abraham is getting to the other side of 30 and Tony Gonzalez maybe have 2 possibly 3 good years left in them. So, with all they gave up; a 1st, 2nd, and 4th plus a 1st and 4th next year; Julio Jones better be the second coming of Jerry Rice.

New England Patriots
GRADE:B+
WHY:Bill Belichick does it again: He may have gotten the defensive bakc not named Patrick Peterson in the second round. But I wonder why he did not drafting defensive linemen when this was the draft of the defesnive linemen. Also, where is the pass rusher?? Tully Banta-Cain needs a pass rushing sidekick. But the successor OT Nate Solder was a great pick up since Matt Light is not getting any younger.

Chicago Bears
GRADE:B
WHY: The Bears made a good pickup in OL Gabe Carimi and DT Stephen Paea: two solid pick on both sides of the line. However, where is the safety and big play receiver? Their best receiver is the league's greatest returner and the safety position have not looked good since Mike Brown was on the roster which was also the last time they went the Super Bowl. So,I guess GM Jerry Angelo won't be cheap and mmight decide to spend for the receiver in free agency.

New York Jets
GRADE:B
WHY: I really like the picks of D-linemen Muhammed Wilkersn and Kendrick Ellis since the line needs some TLC. WR Jeremy Kerley is seriously solid since the Jets don't know if they will be able to sign both Santonio holmes and Braylon Edwards. However, they needed to give the safety position some extra thought since their team almost self destructed when Jim Leonard got injured in the 2010 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers
GRADE:A-
WHY: The Steelers have gotten used to picking at the end of the rounds but they still manage to find some gems for their franchise. DT Cameron Heyward (Ironhead baby boy) will fit in well on their defensive end since Aaron Smith and Brent "The Beard" Keisel is getting up in age and low on durablity. DBs Curtis Brown and Cortez Allen are baby Ike Taylor who are sure tacklers and have average coverage skills. But the offensive line is like a running soap opera on the fact that someone is always hurts. So, hopefully, O-linemen Marcus Gilbert and Keith Williams have immunity on durability-itis and become that serious protection Ben Roethlisberger needs.

Green Bay Packers
GRADE:A-
WHY: The amounts of players that the Pack had on injured reserve could have been a draft, so just to get those players has the same, if not more, impact than the draft picks. So, now the Super Bowl champs get better not only by the draft but the injured players getting healthy for the next season. One of the league's most explosive offense improve with JerMichael Finley getting healthy and drafting Arkansas's TE D.J. Williams and their line improves with first round draft pick OT Derek Sherrod.

Well that is all for today. I'm about to go eat some spaghetti and texas toast and watch the NBA playoffs.
