Okay. It's been about a month into the college basketball season and strange has happened. North Carolina and Connecticut are unranked(who would have thunked it???). I cannot remember the last time when both UConn and UNC were both unramked. Also, almost every team that has been ranked #1 has lost the week they got the ranking(Kansas, Texas, Kentucky). So, who's really #1??? There are 4 teams with one loss. In my honest opinion, the #1 in the country is.... Villanova!!! They have been the best team that no one is talking about. They have best on their team whose named is not John Wall. Scottie Reynolds' game has that polish that can him a lottery pick. But 'Nova is not just Scottie Reynolds, Corey Fisher and Antoine Pena provides great scoring when teams decide to try to Scottie Reynolds a passer. They are undefeated in the toughest and deepest conference in the country. Their defense is very underrated which will make them a ver dangerous team in the tournament comes in March.
And they are experience with making tho the Final Four last year.
WHY NOT KANSAS: Kansas is one of the most balanced teams in the country. With Cole Aldrich on the inside and Sherron Collins on the ouside, they have perfected the hi-low game. They are so sound on defense and offense that it is hard not make them #1 in my book. They are also undefeated in their conference. But they lost to a Tennessee who played without 4 players. That random lost has got questions marks all over the top of my head as if I was in a cartoon. I will see Kansas is what we think they are in they play Texas.
WHY NOT KENTUCKY: Kentucky has the best freshman and player all rolled up in one John Wall. This team well-coached by John Calipari. You can say whatever you want about his level of integrity but he can coach and recruit. They have a balanced scorinng from Patrick Patterson, Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins and an additional to John Wall. But Losing South Carolina???? What the Bluegrass??? There are only two ways that South Carolina is going to March Madness: buying tickets or winning the conference tournament. That type of lost makes me wonder the level of focus this team has. It kind of gives me flashbacks to the John Calipari coached Memphis team that made to the national championship game and lost focus in the last minutes of regulation and in overtime. Could they be #1??? Maybe. But let's see them after they play Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
WHY NOT SYRACUSE: Oh the Orange. They are that team you don't want to play even if you were paid to. Ooh, let me stop talking about money before the NCAA put santions on my blog(lol). They just win in whatever fashion whether they run you out the gym or gring it out. Yhe just win. Well, there is nothing wrong to losing to #21 Pitt, but barely beating bottom dweller DePaul. The last time DePaul was good, they was in Conference USA in the 90s. That's two whole decades ago. It's 2010 if you don't already know. And Syracuse hasn't been the hunted team in the Big East since Carmelo Anthony, Hakim Warrick, and Gerry McNamara was students there. So, I wonder is this young Syracuse team can handle the heavy pressure knowing that losing that can a signature win on someone else's tournament resume
(i.e Louisville and UConn).
Well, I could wrong about this #1 team, but the AP and USA Today can't say they were more right than moi. X's and O's to you all!!!!
